Based on the problems of high dam and large discharge and narrow river valley and difficulty in disposing discharge & energy dissipation in the course of development of hydraulic engineering in west china, seeking a new type of discharge& energy dissipation within dam body-----"dams with glory hole spillway, via referto literature and theory study, by model test, acquire much innovative and engineering valuable result, no matter what extent and deepness, this study possess explore and auspicate.At first, at the base of problems of discharge & energy dissipation and disadvantages of silo dissipation in the course of development of water and electricity in china, putting forward the tentative idea of dams with glory hole spillway, comparing this novel type with traditional ones, expatiating it's characteristics.On the study of choice of dimension of dams with glory hole spillway, based on characteristic of helix flow of silo and practice experience, in the condition of discharge and energy dissipation, obtain the result, further more adopt combination energy dissipation of silo & hole staff, validated by model test.Making study on circumvolve mode of flow in silo, brings forward new type mode adapting to energy dissipation in high dam, presents structure disposal and dimension and juncture, sums up some hydraulic compute method of this set,measures whole pressure, reflects factually characteristic of helix flow.
