The spreading gradation soil analyzed in the article is a cohesive coarse soil. It's a kind of crude soil-rook mixtures .It's often devided into fine material and coarse material by the save of 5mm and the charge of the two contents affects its project quality directly. It's also a better kind of permeation proof materials. As far as the methods of compaction control be concerned, the author studied Hilf three-point-compaction especially. It's proved that three-point-compaction used in the quality check of spreading gradation soil core wall is very suitable in high height above sea level areas. Because the gravel content in the core wall of Mania project changed greatly, the author improved the method of three-point-compaction, that is, measuring water content in medially and changing measuring the compaction degree of full gradation soil into measuring the compaction degree of the soil less than 5mm.The dam of Mania hydroelectric project is a soil-rock dam with spreading gradation soil of core wall. The height of the dam apices is 4261. 3m and the maximal height is 76. 3m. As for lack of construction experience in using spreading gradation soil as the permeation proof body in our country at present, the author has studied the soil material carefully. The soil owns better density degree. Higher shearing resistance and low compaction, but it's crude water content is low, cohesive gravel content is small. Plasticityis worse, grovel content isn't average and the coefficient of permeation is larger etc. The article is discussed all of controlling indexes and construction quality control clearly.
