Automatic Identification System, short for AIS, which based on TDMA technology, is a kind of wireless communication system in Marine, be mainly used in identification between ships, between ships and Vessel Traffic Service (VTS).. In the pulse of International Telecom Union(ITU), International Marine Organization(IMO)and International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA), AIS is becoming a standard in Marine .named ITU-R M.1371.AIS transponders are intended to automatically provide own information such as ship identity, type, position, course, speed, navigational status and safety-related information to appropriately equipped shore stations, other ships and aircraft, and AIS also can receive such information form similarly fitted ships. Thus AIS can automatically monitor and trace nearby ships, it is propitious to manage ships in Marine and sail safely.AIS can work by anyone of the two manners that are DSC (Digital Selective Call) and broadcasting. This paper primarily researches the AIS which adopts the broadcasting better applied in fufure. It is settling harmonious communication among ships equipped AIS that is the key to achieve the AIS adopting broadcasting. SOTDMA (Self-Organized Time Division Multiple Access) would be brought forward according to TDMA.This paper puts forward a set of harmonious communication way basing on STDMA.There are five parts in the article:1st, ITR-R M.1371 is introduced and AIS communication model is analyzed. Refer to Open System Interconnect Reference Model (OSI), AIS model is divided to four layers: physics layer, data link layer, network layer and transport layer;2nd, detailed implementation hardware designment is brought forward, including block diagram, circuit schematics and printed circuit board;3rd, there are two sections in the part, software architecture is expatiated in the first section, and sub-program flow charts are provided in the second section;4th, the principle and implementation of High Data Link Control (HDLC) is discussed .The architecture of HDLC is described by Very high speed integrated circuit Hardware Description Language (HDLC). Synthesized by Synplicify710, it can be simulated in MAXPlus 10, another kind of VHDL tool..5th, summarize this article.
