| Lightweight aggregate concrete, weighting from 850kg/m3 to 1950kg/m3, is one of the extensively used concretes in the world. It is made of sand, cement and lightweight aggregate, etc. Some of the lightweight aggregates include pumice, stuff, expanded clays(haydite), etc. Lightweight aggregate concrete can provide the same strength as the normal concrete with less weight. At the same time, it has some special virtues that are different from normal concrete, such as high heat preservation, inherent fire resistance, etc.The search of lightweight aggregate concrete began at 70's in our country. But there is still little experimental information about lightweight aggregate concrete in GuangXi Zhuang autonomous Region, so GuangXi Architectural Comprehensive Design & Research Institute combine with GuangXi University to experiment with this material. This paper bases on the experiment and researches the lightweight aggregate concrete from four aspects. Those include the load carrying capacity of the specimens in the limit state, the cracking load of the specimens, the crack width of the specimens and the deflection of the specimens. The experimental results show that there are few differences in the mechanical properties between normal concrete slabs and lightweight aggregate concrete slabs which are made by haydite as coarse aggregate. At the same time, the haydite concrete proved that it is available in practice. The article also proposes some means in the making of the haydite concrete. |
