The dynamic real-time mathematical model for regenerative air preheaters, which are widely used in large thermal power units, is set up in this paper with the acquaintance of its principle , structure and running characteristic. The model is verified by detailed simulation tests. Because multi-section lumped parameter method is adopted and the structure and physical parameters of the preheater are fully considered, the model is with higher static accuarcy and its dynamic process fits the actual performance better than the old one-section model. The model is not only fit for simulation application but also can be used for performance analysis of the air prehaters.
