Torque converter is a key components of transmission system which are widely applied in a host of vehicles or construction machinery. Due to the utilization of oil’s kinetic energy to transmit the energy. The quality of its internal flow field directly exerts a great impact on the efficiency of the transmission system. Therefore, the analysis looks at the distribution of the internal flow field enjoys a practical value and considerable theories meaning. This paper is aimed at solving the problems in the progress of torque converter trial-produce. As we know, people have to make the trial-produce over and over again in order to eliminate the unreasonable parameters through a plenty of experiments during the design process. So, selecting the torque converter as the object of this study is naturally. Conducting analysis of its internal flow field with numerical simulation which based on the three-dimensional model created in CATIA. Throughout the comparative summary of two different conditions of the internal flow distribution regular and characteristics is easy to discover some issues. Finally, at the aid of the orthogonal experiment combine with rapid prototyping technology to investigate whether it is possible processing technic in future.The shape of the blade is the most critical factor in determining the performance of the torque converter, this paper discusses the design theory and analysis method of blades, and the utilization of design methods reverse design method to obtain three-dimensional model. Based on hydraulic transmission theory, it discusses the theory of the torque converter internal flow field numerical simulation and study, for further in-depth analysis of its internal flow field provides a theoretical basis.Using three-dimensional software to establish the torque converter turns each work channel model, obtained by pre-processing software ideal discrete grid. Flow channel to make some assumptions, set the boundary conditions in simulation software, select the appropriate turbulence model and solver model, set convergence condition, adjust the relaxation factor, and numerical calculation of the various conditions of the flow field. According to the simulation software to calculate results, the typical operating conditions, the pressure of each flow path inlet face, the face of the chord, the speed of the outlet face and the pressure distribution and the blade pressure surface and the suction side of the distribution and flow field characteristics are summarized its formation mechanism analysis.Finally, due to the special characteristics and complexity of the internal flow field of torque converter, accurately reflect the situation of the internal flow field theory is imperfect, in the development of the design process takes a lot of the characteristics of the experiment, presented in the new torque converter the design process to introduce rapid prototyping methods, the use of Stereo lithography rapid prototyping, rapid prototyping experimental research conducted orthogonal blades, select the blade roughness, leaf quality, rapid prototyping molding time as the evaluation factors blade indicators. Analysis of test results showed that the layer thickness, scan mode, forming pose other factors have a direct impact on the rapid prototyping. Test methods for the RP technology application in the development of the torque converter lay a promising technical foundation.
