With widely used of the advanced technology in automatic weapons manufacturing and the higher demand for reliability of modern weapon equipment, reliability has become an important manifestation of the quality of automatic weapons. In the past, most of the study of the reliability of automatic weapons are structural strength and life reliability analysis based on degradation processes, but lack of action reliability. Action reliability of automatic weapons not only related to the mechanism could complete the required function, but also have a great impact on the repair and maintenance work. Therefore, to improve the reliability of automatic weapons, it is necessary to analysis and research the action reliability of automatic weapons.In this paper, taking a submachine gun’s firing mechanism for the study, carried out the action reliability analysis and operated action reliability optimized design on the basis of consideration the constraints of size chain. The main research contents of this paper include the following aspects:(1)For the firing mechanism of a typical automatic weapons, by appropriate simplifying, the mechanism parametric model is established in ADAMS. Through the analysis of weapons launch, the failure criteria of action reliability is found out,and in a certain form in ADAMS output in the form of simulation results and output in the form of ADAMS simulation results.(2)Owning to the applying of Monte-Carlo method, the parameter values of active simulation is got in ADAMS/Insight. Motion simulation is done by circular sampling and the results are saved. Therefore, the action reliability can be solved by the results of simulation.(3)Through the analysis of the mechanism, dimension chain is drew under different states, and the equations of dimensional chain is listed. Then solve out the closed circle and determine the constraints of dimensional chain.(4)Design the experiment by the Box-Behnken experimental design method in the Design-Expert software. Then solve the action reliability by the experimental design table. Finally, optimize the design considering the constraints of dimensional chain.(5)Through the secondary development of the Adams, establish the software platform for action reliability analysis to provide reliability theory, methods and tools for the action reliability analysis of typical mechanism of automatic weapons.
