With the acceleration of urbanization development in our country, urban traffic problems has been growing. The bus has many advantages which is the important carrier to solve the problem of urban traffic, The bus fee is one of the most important aspects of the bus operation, and it is directly related to the bus company real benefits. So it has practical significance to develop a bus ticketing system which can not only identify whether the coin or paper money is real and complete but also identify the denomination of coin and paper money.This article expounds the bus ticketing system research background and present development situation at home and abroad first, then introduced the identification technology of paper money and coin, and other related key technology. According to the current problems existing in the bus coin machine as well as the actual need, completes the function demand analysis, and on this basis, completes the overall scheme design and each module scheme design. The system is mainly divided into:paper money module, coin module, voice module, display module, money storage and fuselage module, paper money module using fluorescence detection, infrared transmission technology, magnetic detection complete paper money identification, and coin module adopts two sets of low frequency transmission coil to complete testing.The design of the system mainly includes there parts:the mechanical structure design, hardware design, software design. Based on scheme design, and according to the structure design method, the principles and process, completed the structure design of each module in Pro/E, got three-dimensional virtual prototype finally. The hardware design completed the hardware structure design, selection of chip, chip minimum system circuit and basic function circuit design, the paper money and coin detecting signal acquisition and processing circuit design, and other functions of the circuit design, the main control chip select STC12C5A60S2, STM32F103VET6 chip used specially in paper money identification. In system software design process, finished the software overall process and each part process design according to the functional requirements and actual need. System sets working mode and learning mode, finished the software of each module in the Keil MDK environment.Finished the making of prototype according to the design, and perfected the virtual prototype. After the assembly, debugging, the result of test meet the design requirements.
