Study On The Spatial Characteristics And Protection Strategy Of Traditional Lane In

Nanjing, one of the first batch of state-level historical and cultural cities,has more than 6000 years of civilization history. The old southern district is the most developed area in Nanjing, for commercial and residential. The historical Lotus pond District is one of the traditional residential and the most important districts among the South and even the whole Nanjing. Lotus pond District is the typical and outstanding representatives,reflecting the residential settlements and silk handicraft industry of ancient Nanjing during Ming and Qing Dynasty,and it is full of wealthy historical sites,unambiguous pattern of history, and integrated traditional style. Nevertheless, with the rapid development of urbanization, the Lotus Pond District is to be the issue of urban Marginalization increasingly.Due to the problem of physical aging and the loss of intangible culture and up to the situation of construction and regional cultural inheritance, the Lotus Pond District keeps losing its uniquely historical and cultural advantages of the urban characteristic.According to the appearance of problems, updating the spatial characteristics of the traditional lane and activating the cultural deposits of the traditional lane are the main points of this article.The article is mainly expressing the traditional lane of Lotus pond, starting from the analysis of composition of the cultural lane, putting forward to activating the physical space of lane.The core of the article is to figure out a solution which can make the traditional lane exert its own unique feature among the new environment, in addition, finding the better way to adapt the living style of he contemporary society.On the basis of extensive fieldwork and document research,the formation evolution and status of the features of traditional Lane of Lotus pond are analyzed, utilizing the theories of aesthetics, typology, architecture, culture and other related researching methods to study the spatial form,compound characteristics,construction characteristics and place spirit. Meanwhile,basis on uniquely spatial characteristics of the lotus pond lane and the current situation, the author is trying to come up with the strategy and method of updating the space and activating the cultural lane.This thesis is divided into five chapters. First is the introduction,describing the research background, object, significance and researching status of this paper,aiming at the deficiency of previous studies, putting forward the research content, method and train of thought, and making a systematic research framework. The first chapter discusses the basic situation of the traditional lane well of lotus pond, reviewing the formation, spatial evolution and the characteristics of social culture; According to the fieldwork investigation,the researches present the situation of the lotus pond in detail, putting forward of the problems of the present situation of lotus pond and the various difficulties of upgrading. In order to focus on the protection of lotus pond,the second chapter devoted to further more material of spatial characteristic of lotus pond, depending on three aspects of specific analysis of the spatial form, compound characteristics, architectural features.The third chapter starts with the level of traditional lane means to Nanjing city and Nanjing people, pointing out that protection of the lotus pond lane should realize two goals, and follows four basic principles in transforming process.The fourth chapter,basing on the current situation of the second chapter, the space characteristic of the third chapter, and combination the related principles,is to explore the method of activation of lane culture. The fifth chapter is a summary of this thesis.
