The most critical component of the vehicle brake system is disc brake, whose performance of the brake is directly related to vehicle security and reliability. With the continuous improvement of them, more and more engineering vehicles are equipped with wet disc brakes. In the braking process, the temperature of friction disc in wet type brake will rise, and if the heat cannot be timely dissipated, the braking performance will be influenced seriously. Therefore, the transient temperature distribution on the brake friction disc during braking should be investigated, and the factors that will directly affect the friction disc temperature distribution need to be studied. In order to ensure the brake works stably and reliably for a long time, the brake must have a good heat dissipation performance. In the braking process, the grinding each other between two frictional discs immersed in the oil by generates heat, which will be dissipated through convective between the oil at the bottom of and the air at the top of. By means of the tribology theory, this paper studied the heat distribution on the surface of the brake friction discs in a real working condition, and study the heat dissipation in the whole braking friction process by using the theory of heat transfer. A Wet multi-disc brake three dimensional model was built up by using the ANSYS CFX software, and according to the internal cooling way in an industrial brake, set up the main domain, the air flow field, the friction plate and the oil and air convection, the braking temperature distribution in the wet brake was simulated. The temperature of the brake will continue to rise in the case of vehicle frequent braking until the brake is overheating, which is the main failure type of wet multi-disc brake. In order to ensure that the brake still has a reliable performance and the vehicle keep security under the frequent braking, it must be ensure that the brake keep in a relatively low temperature. Friction disc, key components of the brake, which transform the vehicle’s kinetic energy into heat energy by rubbing against each other. In order to enhance the brake cooling performance, the factors which will influence the heat dissipation on the friction disc. This paper researches the influence on the friction disc structure, friction materials, and friction disc gaps and conclude the influencing factors of brake cooling by comparative analysis, For different working conditions, various fair cooling solution can be chose and an optimal solutions can be provided.
