Modern equipment become more automatic, intelligent, high speed with each passing day, especially widely used in some pillar industries----petrochemical process industry such as high speed turbine compressor unit, large reciprocating compressor, pump and other major equipment that is closely combined with the production process. These key equipment in the event of failure can lead to major accidents, sometimes affects the production efficiency, sometimes may lead to the system downtime or disruption, causing the great economic losses, sometimes even appear malignant accidents, endangering people’s life and property security, causing extremely serious consequences. According to incomplete statistics,15%of the major accident was caused by reciprocating compressor. in petrochemical industry.Reciprocating machine has complicated structure, bad operation condition, and many components are running under cyclic loading, which led it to high failure rate. Offshore oil platform far away from the mainland, resulting in serious inconvenience in transportation, communications, personnel and supplies. In this case, will cause seriously lag in fault dia-gnosis and maintenance when the related equipment failure.In view of above drawbacks, this paper carried out deeply research that fully integra-ted offline and online monitoring techniques for reciprocating machine that was used in offshore oil platform. We simulated oil platform and established the elastic foundation test rig, then adopt the method of vibration monitoring to simulate the common failures that were appeared in the running process of reciprocating machine, the simulation fully cha-racterized the working state and fault information. Finally, by analyzing the failure causes and fault characteristics spectrum obtained reciprocating machine fault models feature library. The research results have been successfully applied to the Liaodong Bay and the northern Gulf offshore platforms’reciprocating compressors, and it can monitor the run-ning status effectively, as well as give a timely alarm when the equipment failure.
