The concept of surface crystallization is process a nano layer with special performance on the surface of metal materials by adopting specific methods, to extend the service life of metal materials and improve all kinds of mechanical properties. Surface crystallization is when metal surface is stimulated by the repeated and unbalance load, the surface of the crystal structure can produce severe plastic deformation, the size of bulky grain achieve nanometer level.The method of using high energy projectile bombard to induce nano layer on the metal surface is simple and reliable, the projectile can get ultra-high energy to improve the efficiency of nano and make a thick and distribute uniform nano layer on the metal surface, its mechanical performance is enough to reach the requirement, the cost of the equipment is low, the equipment can be applied in research or production. On the basis of meeting the requirements, complete the prototype’s design and manufacture of the high-energy projectile bombard metals surface to induce nano, including theory analysis and calculation, establish the three-dimension model of the various components of the nano device, then complete the virtual assemble, complete the finite element analysis of the important parts, verify the rationality of the design, process the physical parts according to the two-dimension engineering graphics and complete the device’s assemble. After the completion of processing and assembling prototype, in order to achieve the required function and characteristics of prototype, need to test the performance of the whole machine and the important parts.After complete the surface nano process of the different metal materials widely used in engineering under different parameters, use the optical microscope, X-ray diffract, transmission electron microscope, surface roughness instrument and micro hardness instrument of the test instrument, research the crystallization result. Results show that after the process of the high-energy projectile bombard metals surface to induce nano, create a nano layer which the thickness is about 50 um, grain size is 10 nm, these lay the foundation for research of surface crystallization.
