The "Metal Storm" weapon systems have the following characteristics:high Firing Frequency, high-density shooting, strong combat power, etc. Therefore they will play an important role in the CIWS (Close-In-Weapon System). But now the researches about how to measure its projectile velocity are relatively rare. Based on this background, this paper designed a high-speed multichannel parallel measurement system. This system was established on the coil-sensor array and the FPGA devices.The theise studied on the principles of projectile velocity measurement and the characteristics of the "Metal Storm" weapon systems. Then the thiese came up with the measuring means that use the coil-sensor array as front end target installation. And the Altera EP4 family FPGA EP4CE15F17C8 was seleced to work as control center of the measuring system. The hardware of each module has been completed. The EP4CE15F17C8 FPGA core was programmed by the Verilog HDL language to realise its specific functionalities. Finally, a PC program was designed based on the LabVIEW software. It can display the signal waveform, speed value and Firing Frequency value for real-time.Based on the two-channel parallel test platform in laboratory, the velocity measurement systems and PC software were tested at low-speed condition. Thought compared the measurement values with the show values of oscilloscope, the experimental results verified that the system was running well. Finally, after analyzed the shooting range experimental results, the thiese made a summary outlook for further improving of this system.
