Fully-automatic loading and artillery firing rate is an important direction of artillery development in the future. This paper focuses on the research of artillery automatic loading technology, and designs a fully-automatic loading control system of a high firing rate and high reliability, by using the reasonable control method, hardware structure, working process, combined with the novel sensor detection technology and servo drive technology.Based on analyzing the system performance index and working environment, this paper puts forward the principle of design and overall scheme with one master and three remote I/O station through the CAN bus network communication. According to the system architecture of the overall scheme, by researching the action and performance requirements of each action execution mechanism, their control method and hardware structure and the selection of hardware are identified, and the main controller is X20 series PLC of the B & R company. On the basis of the system work flow of the overall scheme, by analyzing each function module work flow, the modularization method is adopted in the design of software. The lower computer software is developed by C language in Automation Studio development environment. The host computer interface is developed by LabVIEW2010 development environment, thus realize the operation control of the system and the state information and animation display and so on. The communication program between host computer and lower computer is realized by OPC Protocol. Then, the paper validated the comprehensive performance, including the basic functional verification, performance index test, firing rate index verification, CANopen network communication load rate test, and PLC load monitoring, etc.By analyzing the results, it shows that the automatic loading control system has reasonable design, good performance and operates steadily, the effect of improving the firing rate and increasing the power has achieved. The research of this paper has reference value to improve the firing rate and stability of self-propellant howitzer.
