The dorm environment is one of the most important places that the students spend in. The dorm environment has great influence on the psychological and physical health and learning efficiency of the students. The population density of the students’ dormitory in our country is big, and the ventilation of the dormitory is basic to regard natural ventilation as principle. In winter and transition seasons when the outdoor temperature is low, the dormitory doors and windows will be closed that may lead to the bad indoor air quality.the pollution of the dormitory environment are more likely to caused serious influence to student’s health. This paper is about the influence of dormitory environment on the students’health in hot summer and cold winter region. The study was launched in Zijin campus of Nanjing Normal University from March to May,2013. The dormitory environment and health conditions of students were reported on the questionnaires by1042students living in256dorm rooms. Dormitory environment problems mainly include the dormitory dampness, perception of objectionable odor et al. Students’health problems mainly include symptoms of respiratory system, sick building syndrome et al.Using SPSS(Statistic Package for the Social Science) for data analysis. The results show that there was a significant correlation between dampness and perception of objectionable odor. The risk of perceived objectionable odor in the dormitory with signs of building dampness was higher. The signs of building dampness, the objectionable odor, Environmental Tobacco Smoke are dangerous factors to cold and the symptoms of respiratory system. There was a significant correlation between the signs of building dampness and eczema, cockroach and eczema. The signs of building dampness, perceived objectionable odor, eczema are dangerous factors to sick building syndrome. At the same time, CO2concentration in the dormitory was continuous monitored by the CO2analyzer. The ventilation rate was calculated by using the CO2as the tracer gas which comes from human breathing. The results show that the CO2concentration in dormitory is high at night. Stable stage, the average CO2concentration in the6-person dormitory is58.74%higher than that in the6-person dormitory, and the average ventilation rate7.5%higher.Preliminary understanding of the dorm environment and the health condition of students in college in hot summer and cold winter region can be taken through this study, so as the relationship between the dorm environment and the health condition of students. It can be a reference to improve the dorm environment and keep students’ health.
