Occurrence of a sudden traffic accident in a car on the highway mainly due to theabnormal tire pressure. How to conduct real-time monitoring of air pressure anomaly in therunning process has become an indispensable part of modern intelligent vehicle in activesafety performance requirements. Tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is used formonitoring tire pressure condition in real-time, alarming at the abnormal tire pressure andalerting to remind the driver react to pressure anomalies and to avoid traffic accidents. Forsome problems in the direct or indirect tire pressure monitoring methods, this study tocompare changes in tire rotation speed difference to determine pressure abnormal fordesign and simulation pressure monitoring method. This paper first introduces the research background, significance, development statusand classification of tire pressure monitoring system, and then according to the theory ofvehicle dynamics and tire create a mathematical model of the tire radius mathematicalrelationship with the speed and the radius of the tire with the number of tire speed pulsesignal, and validated by MATLAB programming, to establish the theoretical basis forpressure monitoring method of indirect. Based on the monitoring theories to build ahardware platform of the monitoring system model, and finally through the MATLABsoftware simulation of the monitoring system. The model can be used to monitor each speed signal in the simulation process ofmonitoring, and to identify the tire model abnormal signal, making up the defects of thetraditional indirect pressure monitoring system could not be identify the situation abouttwo abnormal tire pressure on the coaxial or the same side. At the same time in theMATLAB algorithm simulation process for each path of abnormal signal set a definedthreshold, allowing the speed signal changes within the range. And in the course of thealgorithm to detect the abnormal signals reviewed several times, only to ultimatelydetermine whether the tire pressure is abnormal, thus eliminating errors caused falsealarms due to accidental circumstances. The monitoring model successfully completed thealarm on the abnormal rotational speed signal, achieve the simulation monitoringrequirements.
