Integrated by mechanism, electricity, hydraulic and control, shield machine is a kind of technology intensive great engineering special equipment for excavating underground tunnel. Gear transmission system with large power of shield machine, as one of the key components in underground excavating equipment, its performance will influence the work function of the shield machine. Because of the complex geology condition and the big diameter of cutter head, the transmission system of shield machine works in a rough condition, which need to suffer a heavy load and high impact and own large power, big output torque and other functions. With a high requirement of its design, manufacturing and processing, only some enterprises in minority countries like Japan, Germany can produce the transmission system in a high cost. Therefore, the research of gear transmission system with large power of shield machine has a significant meaning to improve the self-renovation capability for shield machine driving system and promote the urbanization construction.The work principle of shield machine is elaborated in this paper, and also the domestic and foreign development and current situation of shield machine and its driving system are discussed. Based on the deep analysis of shield machine driving system's working requirement, a new-style dual-drive planetary gear transmission system with large power of shield machine is designed. Composed of a differential mechanism and a two order closure mechanism, this transmission system occupies the advantages of a big transmission ratio and a high capacity of load bearing. It displaces the traditional muti-motors driving muti-reducers with a new style, that is two motors driving one reducer. The chief contents are as follow.According to theories of mechanics and gear meshing, the system connecting drawing and kinematic equations are established through determinant method. The transmission characteristics of dual-drive system are analyzed and then the system transmission ratio, the relation and changing regulation of internal rotation velocity and torque are acquired.On the application of power bond graph, bond graph models of the differential mechanism, closure mechanisms and the ensemble are established and then derivation of system state equations and the simulation of system dynamic characteristics are performed in this paper. Meanwhile, the regulation and influence factors for system internal variables are analyzed in different input conditions.According to the equation of involute profile and fillet curve, the solid model of each part in dual-drive system of shield machine is established, and then the virtual assembling is conducted according to the actual connection.Then, the virtual experiment is designed. Creating the run institution, a simulative operation is conducted. Then the exactness of transmission ratio formula is verified and the moving state of each member is reflected directly. Using finite element method, the reasonability in structure of dual-drive shield machine is verified from three aspects of structural static mechanics, nonlinear contact and modal model, which will lay a foundation for further research.
