Smart morphing aircraft, which is embedded with large amount of intelligent materials on surface or inside, can change its airfoil according to the flying tasks and environment, so as to keep best flying performance and satisfy multi-tasks or complex flying conditions. This dissertation focuses on the shape control issue of the smart morphing rib driven by intelligent materials.Firstly, the overall architecture of the smart morphing rib control system is proposed. And every module of the system is given out, including field-bus network module (CAN network is used in this project), intelligent driving module (Piezo-electric actuator is chosen) and sensor module (Linear displacement sensor is used.), and control module. Then the whole working principle of this system is shown.Secondly, the dynamic partial differential model of the smart rib is built. In this process, the smart rib is simplified as a beam which combines the characteristics of piezo material. Then, utilizing mode analysis method, the rib airfoil can be described as a sum of a set of sine functions. Thus, such model is transformed to a control model whose control variables are mode coefficients.Then, the dynamic shape control law based on the state observer is designed. The overall designing framework is: First, design control law considering the remanding mode only; Then analyze the network characteristics of the system, and design a control law considering the network induced time-delay. The simulations in MATLAB show that the designed law is valid with short delay.At last, considering the flexibility of the movement process, a control law based on the neighboring node information is designed. It uses the neighboring information as extra feedback. The simulation in MATLAB shows that this method is valid to cooperate the moving process.
