In recent years, a lot of research have been made in SBS modified asphalt home and abroad, and many achievements have been made in the practical application. In view of the good performance SBS modified asphalt, more and more attention have been drawm to how SBS interacts with asphalt and how to improve the performance SBS modified asphalt. In this paper,SBS modified asphalt with various dose of SBS have been compared and analysed, and the phase-transition concentration has been determined. it is found that changes in the softening point can characterize the concentration effectively. This concentration is defined as the increase of softening point at the fastest point.By changing the component of asphalt, the SBS type, as well as the source of asphalt and stabilizer combined with microscope of the microstructure, the factors that affect the phase-transition of SBS/ashpalt system have been studied. Appropriate conditions were identified to reduce the waste of production process and reduce production costs, meanwhile the performance of SBS modified have been improved. the study indicates that :1. the concentration of the phase-transition of SBS/ashpalt system could be advanced ,and the modified asphalts could achieve a better performance at both high and low temperatures when increasing the asphalt content of saturates and aromatics. And aromatics are the key factor compared with saturates.2. When the S/B is the same, L-SBS and S-SBS made no difference in the phase-transition concentration, but L-SBS have a better compatibility with asphalt, while S-SBS modified asphalt have a better performance3. Asphalts of different oil sources have different phase-transition of SBS/asphalt the appropriate SARA proportion of the asphalts is crucial prepare modified asphalst. 4. Stabilizers have no affect on on the phase-transition concentration, but they can improve the compatibility of SBS and asphalt.
