Air core spiral strip pulse transformer (ACSSPT) has been widely used in the area of Pulsed Power Technology, which attributes to its advantageous of small size and weight, low cost and non-saturated features. It usually helps to construct a compact system when used to charge the pulse forming line of the IEBA. In this dissertation, a method for calculating the parameters of the ACSSPT is put forward. The electric field distribution and lifetime of the transformer are also analyzed. The main work indetail are as follows:1. An accurate calculation method (Mean-Electronmagnetic-Field method) is put forward based on the common calculations of winding inductance of the air-core transformer. Accurate calculations formulas of the winding inductance, mutual inductance and coupling coefficient are obtained. By contrast to the common calculations, the Mean-Electronmagnetic-Field method presents morn accurate results to match the experimental results. In addition, factors which impact on the coupling coefficient of the ACSSPT are also analyzed by the Mean-Electronmagnetic-Field method.2. Pspice and CST EM Studio Codes are both used to simulate the electricfields distribution of the secondary wingings of ACSSPT, according to the theoretical model based on the geometric structure and parameters. Exprimental results proved the analysis of the simulation results.3. A miniature ACSSPT and an aquare generator are produced for expriments. Frequency response of the resistance and induction of the second winding are tested. Voltages between turns of the secondary windings are also tested on the condition of low voltage (200V). Besides, factors which impact on the lifetime of transformer, such as the geometric structure, impurity between turns and windings and the changes of the load, are all analyzed by theoretical calculation, simulation and experiment.
