Regenerator always works on the condition of high-frequency oscillatory flow and pulsing pressure in actual application. So far, experimental study of oscillatory flow and heat transfer in regenerator has not got accurate data. It cause the design defect of stirling engine and regenerative refrigerator. So it is very meaningful for doing experimental apparatus study of oscillatory flow and heat transfer in regenerator.The present work is an experimental apparatus study of oscillatory flow and heat transfer in regenerator. The main research works are as follows.A detailed review on the historical developments and the latest advances of the research has been made on oscillatory flow and heat transfer in regenerator, which introduce from theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, and experimental research in detail.On the basis of the study of the experimental apparatus, The whole performance parameters of the stirling engine experimental apparatus powered by two linear compressors is designed by Schmitt method. The working condition of the experimental apparatus as follows: the porous medium used as the regenerator is stainless steel wire mesh, the working fluid is Helium or Nitrogen, the paramount operational pressure is up to 0.5MPa, operation temperatures is from 373K to 637K at the hot end of regenerator; and the oscillating frequency can be varied from 10Hz to 60Hz.The extension of the experimental apparatus is studied, The whole performance parameters of the pulse tube engine experimental apparatus powered by one linear compressor is designed .Using inertance tube, orifice and reservoir instead of one linear compressor at the hot end, make the condition of oscillatory flow in regenerator come true .Studied the performance improvement method of regenerator on the basis of the design theory of the Stirling engine.Studied dynamic testing method meanwhile did some research on the experimental calibration of dynamic pressure measurement system, vibration signal measurement system and dynamic temperature measurement system.
