Transient stability calculation is an indispensable tool for power system security and stability. This paper does a transient stability analysis on the offshore oil platform, which provides valuable references for system planning and running.First the paper establishes mathematical model of the power system in offshore oil platform. According to the needs and specific circumstances of the platform, we choose the simplified form models appropriately and focus on the generator model and the load model. Choose the models which meet the needs of simulation and also are simple for calculating. For this purpose, we identify the generator model with its parameter and choose different load models according different load nature at different place after having got a meticulous understanding of the platform.This paper calculates the power flow of four important operating modes. Analysis the results by discussing power transmission, voltage quality and compensation of the system, and then obtain the more appropriate operating modes in all cases. Considering the impact on system stability, choose fault locations and fault selection based on power flow results which we have got. Calculate transient stability of system after setting fault clearing time. Determine transient stability by analysis generator swing curves. Calculate critical clearance time of some important faults. Compare the results of transient stability calculation and discuss the conservative of the two different generator models.
