The building shading, one of the measures can control solar radiation reasonable and effective used, can effectively control the indoor solar radiation intensity and improve the indoor light environment, which is of great significance to the building climate adaptation. In recent years, with China's basic national policy of "energy-saving and ejection-decreasing" carrying out, the energy conservation of building shading has become more increasingly prominent role by the society, and has become an unignored industry.At present, in the field of architectural shading, the analysis of building shading effects, and the formulation of design strategy, most only vague perceptions, or rely on software simulation analysis, which are lack of test data obtained by experimental analysis. In this paper, through building the platform of the building external shading test model, the tests on controlling solar radiation and improving the indoor light environment are carried out.At first, analyze the features of the diagram method, model experiment method and calculation method, summarize and analyze the formula of calculating the shadow and spot area of the horizontal external shading projection on the external window, and the calculation of the projected solar radiation. And using the computer language Visual Basic 2005, write the complex calculation process into the software - "The architectural horizontal external shading effect evaluation software V1.0 (AESEC)", to facilitate the building designers easy and fast detection, evaluation the effect of building shading, and enhance the reasonable design of the shading.Then, by the model test platform, test and analyse the effect of horizontal external shading with the three typical weather conditions of the sunny, cloudy, overcast days in summer, and show that the effect in sunny days is more significant than that in cloudy and overcast days, when the building greatest demand the shading. The horizontal external shading devices should be full recovery in cloudy and overcast days to ensure that the indoor natural lighting increases as much as possible. By analyzing the impact of the southeast, south and southwest horizontal external shading with the different length on the indoor solar radiation intensity and indoor illumination, and gain the best control period and the appropriate length of horizontal external shading in the southeast, south and southwest. Finally, through the analysis of climate in Chongqing, combining with the measured data, propose the location, season, the fixed and movable shading design strategies in Chongqing, for the architects design fine shading works to reduce energy consumption, improve indoor light environment and promote the application of horizontal external shading technology in Chongqing. Based on the design strategy of horizontal external shading, we develop "An energy-efficient activities shading devices", which can be widely applied.
