Water supply pipelines which convey tap water to consumers not only play important parts of the urban lifeline system but also guarantees of residents'normal life.However, many factors include man-made ones and natural ones can cause damage to the water supply pipelines.Above all the damage factors, earthquake is the most serious one.Researches on the seismic effects of buried pipelines have been developed for many years, but few effective methods have been founded.To get a reasonable methods to assess the effect of earthquake, this research which takes the KGWL water supply pipelines as the research object developed a seismic vulnerability assessment method which combine finite element analysis and fuzzy mathematics means.At first, a discuss of water supply pipelines modeling had been taken based on the characteristic of KGWL water supply pipelines and academic achievements all over the world.At second, simplified models of pipe joints had been built with ABAQUS software according to finite element methods.A certain earthquake wave had been taken as the input of the dynamic analysis.The maximum mise stress had been considered as the cause of the seismic damage.Stress adjusting coefficient had been used to calculate the mise stress of four kinds of pipe components.At last, the subordinate degree and damage criterion of pipe and components had been made according to the fuzzy mathematic theory.To realize the essentiality of different pipeline units, fuzzy clustering analysis had been introduced into the sorting process which take the quantity of water consuming and the distance from the water resource as the two basic factors.When intergrated the results of the subordinate degree calculation and the fuzzy clustering analysis, a paramerer to discribe the seismic vulnerability of water supply pipelines had been calculaterd.According to this study, the whole method of the assessment of the seismic vulnerability of water supply pipelines had been built. Although this mothed can not guided pratical works, it will surely promote the study of seismic effects of pipelines.
