The energy dissipation-seismic reduction is one of the economic and effective passive control methods to enhance the aseismic performance of the structure. Based on the research and application situation, the aseismic performances of the energy dissipation device that is steel plate shear wall (SPSW) made of low yield point steel are studied in this paper.The paper work mainly includes the following aspects:(1)The basic principles about the aseismic performance of the energy dissipation device were introduced. Some characteristics of the energy dissipation device were acquired by calculation, such as shear force-displacement curve, lateral stiffness, yield shear force, ultimate shear force and yield displacement.(2)A project example was provided to analyze the impact of the energy dissipation device on the aseismic performance of the structure. The nonlinear time history analysis was carried out with the SAP2000 program to analyze the structural response under earthquake. The conclusions show that the energy dissipation devices significantly reduce the structural response and greatly improve the aseismic performance of structure. Meanwhile, the results by time history analysis method show that the energy dissipation devices reduce the degree of torsion irregularity and vertical stiffness irregularity.(3)The evaluation indicators of the aseismic performance including hysteresis behavior were analyzed and compared with relevant experimental data. The energy dissipation devices show excellent energy-dissipating mechanism, high energy-dissipating capacity and stable hysteretic behavior. The energy dissipation device can be served as a damper device used for the seismic reinforcement of existing buildings or as energy-consuming devices for new construction. The results about the aseismic performance of the energy dissipation device and the impacts on the structural response provide the bases for further theoretical research and practical application.
