With the rapid development and constant improvement of domestic market economy, discrete manufacturing workshop has changed from a cost center into a profit center, workshop management also gradually changed from extensive management to delicacy management. Undoubtedly, application of MES has greatly supported such changes of functions in the discrete manufacturing enterprises. However, the applications of MES are still immature due to many reasons. The production organization in discrete manufacturing workshops brings inevitable difficulties for application of MES. In addition, the unclear organization of the application object of MES also introduces new difficulties.This thesis argues that the role of MES is to assist the management of workshop as a software product. Its development should be based on the study of discrete manufacturing workshop. Starting from this opinion, the thesis studies the details on the MES and the discrete manufacturing workshop, followed by the concrete research on the application of MES to a manufacturing workshop, where a workshop performance evaluation system is presented as an application example.Firstly, this thesis summarizes the research background and reviews the state of the art of MES and MES's application. Secondly, the major functions of MES in an enterprise integration architecture model, the MES-11 functional model and the ISA -95 standards, are introduced briefly. The features of MES's applications in discrete manufacturing are generalized. Thirdly, four models for structure, function, environment and process are proposed respectively based on the detailed analysis of a discrete manufacturing workshop. Then, the functional boundary of the discrete manufacturing executive system is designed; the performance evaluation issue is analyzed; and a performance evaluation system is established, which can provide solid basis for the further implementation work.Finally, Personnel Information Reports, Equipment Status Information Reports, Work In Process Information Reports are made by using SAP BusinessObjects. The proposed performance evaluation system is also realized and testified on the SAP BusinessObjects platform. |
