The valve train controls the intake and exhaust strokes of the engine, which has a direct impact on its performance and reliability. With the ever-increasing demands on the performance of the engine, the requirements of valve train is also getting higher and higher. Since the valve train controls the valve timing of the engine and have great effect to the combustion in cylinder, we should pay more attention to it.Through the experimental researches and simulation calculations, a research of dynamic performance of the valve train in a marine diesel engine was made. For the live test is not fit for the small machine like vehicle engine, not only because of the space for the measuring equipments to lays on are limited, but also the original movement may be broke by them. Instead, the problem is not so obviously in marine diesel engine. So it is easier to run the dynamic experiment of valve train in real marine diesel engine. The research in this thesis is read as flow.Firstly, under the testing marine diesel engine, design a program which fit for the dynamics and kinematics experiment to obtain the parameters of the valve train like speed, acceleration, lift and force of the components. And a calibration test is also carried out to provide data for the contradistinction to the dynamic and kinematics test. According to the result of simulation, the feasibility of the experiments is ensured.Secondly, establish an Elasto-dynamic model and make the calculation to evaluate the performance of the valve train. The result shows that the components of the valve train moves smoothly and the valve train works in well-functioning.Finally, use the finite element analysis software to computing the stress distribution of the components and make the stress intensity calibration on them. The result show that the stress of the components is in security. And a research was also discussed to decide the location of the measuring point of the test.
