A direct alcohol fuel cell is a new type of low-temperature fuel cells using small organic molecules (methanol,isopropanol) as fuel. However,the high cost and the low electrochemical properties of the anode catalyst has become a bottleneck restricting the development of DAFC.A direct borohydride fuel cell (DBFC) is a device that converts chemical energy stored in borohydride ion and an oxidant directly into electricity by redox processes. In this paper, a series of PdAuCo/C catalysts were synthesized by solution-reduction methods using NaBH4 as reducing agent and used to study the electrooxidation of isopropanol and borohydride in alkaline solution.The catalysts were studied by XRD,XPS,TEM.First, the catalysts were evaluated in the sodium borohydride in alkaline medium.When the molar ratio of nPd: n (Co + Au) was 2:1,the molar ration of nlemon: n (Pd + Au + Co) was 2:1 and the molar ration of nCo: nAu was 3:1, the prepared catalyst has the excellent performance by the single factor analysis.The catalysts Pd/C,PdCo/C,PdAu/C were also prepared in the same preparation conditions,then were used to study the effect of elements which were added into Pd-based catalysts.The results show that the catalyst PdAuCo/C was better than Pd/C,PdCo/C,PdAu/C catalysts in sodium borohydride solution,indicating that Au and Co improve the performance of Pd based catalysts.Pd/C,PdCo/C,PdAu/C,PdAuCo/C catalyst were compared with the commercial PtRu/C catalyst in isopropanol solution.The results show that the catalyst PdAuCo /C is better than the catalyst Pd/C,but the catalysts PdCo/C,PdAu/C were worse than the catalyst Pd/C.
