Along with the rapid ascension of the national economic level, Chinese power industry is developing rapidly. Hydropower is an important part of the power industry, cascade hydropower plants have been built or are being built in the major rivers of our country. In the environment of power market, although the traditional short-term optimal scheduling models of cascade hydropower plants are simple and easy to understand, factors considered are not comprehensive enough. The models are not able to reflect the actual situation of the short-term optimal scheduling among cascade hydropower plants.Recent years, with the rapid development of China's power industry. On one hand, there are signs of excess capacity in the generation side, on the other hand, large customers are facing industrial restructuring and higher electricity costs in the load side, these factors affect the customers'market competitiveness. In view of this, this paper researched on the short-term optimal scheduling model of cascade hydropower plants from the perspective of the generation side. This paper proposes a new short-term optimal scheduling model of cascade hydropower plants considering large customers direct-purchasing, and analyzes the expected net profit of the cascade hydropower plants around considering the large customers direct-purchasing. The goal of this model is to obtain the max net profit in the environment of electricity market, meanwhile, the large customers direct-purchasing existed, the model also takes the economic interests of large customers and power grid-corporation into account, providing a new research approach for the short-term optimal scheduling of cascade hydropower plants.With the constant improvement of the electricity market and the realization of network interconnection among large areas, generation rights transfer is becoming available among power plants. Because the storage reservoir and runoff of cascade hydropower plants is more in wet water season, while lesser in dry water season. From the angle of full, effective and rational use of water resources, with the research target of the short-term optimal model of cascade hydropower plants, this paper constructs a new short-term optimal scheduling model of cascade hydropower plants considering generation rights transfer, and analyzes the expected net profit around considering the generation rights transfer. The model takes the economic interests of sellers, buyers and power grid-corporation into consideration, and has certain actual application value.The short-term optimal scheduling of cascade hydropower plants is a time-delay, high-dimensional and nonlinear optimization problem with a lot of constraint conditions. Because differential evolution algorithm has the advantages on robustness and search efficiency, so the two proposed models are solved by differential evolution algorithm respectively in this paper. The optimized results are compared with the results optimized by genetic algorithm, final results indicate the rationality of models and the advantages of differential evolution algorithm.
