Research On Temple Garden In Quanzhou

Temple Garden is one of important types of classical Chinese gardens. Compare with the Royal gardens and Private gardens, temple garden which is integrated with the cultural connotations of confucianism, taoism and buddhism takes on the characters of open and public. Quanzhou, known as "Buddhist Country in Southern", has the largest number of buddhist temples which are the most widely distributed and numerous disciples. They are also of varying scales, diverse forms, and been constructed in various methods. The paper lays emphasis on temples garden in Quanzhou and their gardening artistic features. It starts with Quanzhou temple garden history, probes into six aspects of garden building method as following: the location, the layout of the temple gardens, the architectural features, the disposition of plants, stones setting and layout of water, and the poetic imagery of gardening, and abstracts Quanzhou temple garden's building features. Then based on space nature of base address and form of layout of Quanzhou temple garden, it could be divided into two types of temple garden: gardens on mountain and on flat land.By using the method of academic research and practical study, this paper conducts the following research:The first part is to introduces and analysis in details the related research , the significance and basis of this topic. Then generalize the existing research progress of Quanzhou temple garden and put forward the existing problems.The second part is to study the growing process of Quanzhou temple gardens, and introduce the reasons of its development is the development of Quznzhou social economy, and religious culture . Next, the history of Quanzhou temple garden can be divided into four periods——the embryo period, the initiative prosperity period, the flourishing period, and the mature period——and elaborate characteristics of each period. Under the influence of Zhong Yuan Culture, traditional Civil Building culture in Quanzhou and overseas culture, Quanzhou temple garden has develop its unique art characteristics. Then base on space of base address and form of layout of Quanzhou temple garden, temple gardens will be classified.The third part is to analysis Quanzhou temple garden and its artistic characteristics, it mainly depends on the following six aspects to analyses and summarizes the exiting Quanzhou temple garden: the location ,the layout of the temple gardens, the architectural features, the disposition of plants, stones setting and layout of water, and the poetic imagery of gardening, and extract the art characteristics of Quanzhou temple garden, then summed up the characteristics of Quanzhou temple garden.The fourth part is to select three typical cases as representatives of Quanzhou temple garden on flat land and Jingfeng Temple , Keshan Temple as typical cases of mountain temple garden .These five temple gardens will be studied and analyzed mainly from the layout, the construction group and the creation of garden environment, so that the art characteristics of Quanzhou temple garden can be presented. Through the above analysis, the art historical context and the characteristics of Quanzhou temple garden can be clarified , and it comes out that the gardening art of Quanzhou temple garden inherits the gardening methods of traditional Chinese temple garden, and after a long period of development, it has become the Quanzhou temple garden which is filled with regional characteristics .Hope that according to this research, it can fill gaps in the field of Quanzhou temple garden studying to a certain extent, enrich its theoretical system, and led to a more clear understanding of garden feature of Quanzhou temple garden...
