Microwave power measurement which is widely used in mobile communications, radar, radio, television and other fields is the most important and basic part of Microwave measurement. Microwave power measurement instruments is developing towards smaller, low-power, broadband, high-precision direction with the advances in microwave power sensor technology and instrument bus technology. Particularly the universal application of USB bus provides the research a realistic basis.USB bus Microwave Power Meter was the main target of papers, the diode detector and the USB bus communication technologies was studied. The design is presented according to design requirements and the feasibility was verified through theoretical calculation and simulation. Program with the idea of virtual instruments, Microwave power meter probe which based on Weak signal detection technology and high-speed USB bus was made, and the microwave power meter software was prepared in the LabWindows/CVI software platform combined with NI-VISA. The main results of this paper are as follows:(1)Weak signal detection circuit which Realized effective measurement of the microvolt DC signals was designed after In-depth study.(2) Multi-dimensional digital calibration and compensation algorithms which non-linear, temperature, and frequency response of balanced diode detector was discussed then programming work was done.(3)NI-VISA-based driver and the Microwave Power Meter software which based on LabWindows/CVI were designed.The test results show that the indicators have reached the requirements of the project after calibration.
