Study On Coastal Square Planning And Design Of Qingdao

As the urban lounges, city squares are not only the centers of politics, economy and cultural activities but also the important symbol of the city. Located in the city coastal region which is the area with the most typical social modality and regional scene, the coastal squares are the most characteristic and charming type of the city squares. As the significant component of costal open space, marina squares not only provide citizens with places for recreational activities but also provide tourists with the places for travel and sightseeing. Besides, marina squares are the most distinctive logo of coastal cities. However, because of the lack of in-depth study and understanding to marina squares, the design of marina squares lack due characteristics, which lead to many problems involved in the construction of coastal squares.In this paper, Qingdao is chosen as the research region. On one hand, as a typical coastal city, the construction of coastal region of Qingdao is always in strict accordance with the systemic overall urban planning. So the research can be done better from planning and resign. On the other hand, Qingdao is putting forward the development strategy of "Central Bay protection, owned Bay Development" and the development of coastal squares get more and more attention. It is hope that the results of this paper about planning and design of coastal squares in Qingdao can provide certain theoretical guidance to the construction of coastal squares.In this paper, the concept, type, meaning, characteristics and entity feature of coastal squares are summarized systemically through arranging and analyzing the relevant theories about city squares and combing the geographical location features. Firstly, the elements influencing the planning and design of Qingdao coastal squares are expounded in detail from both subjectivity and objectivity. Then 12 squares with considerable scale in Qingdao former costal region are chosen as the research objectives and analyze their character, spatial pattern, environment characteristics and activity characteristics from the aspect of planning. Among them, three typical cases are researched deeply using the method such as site observation, questionnaire survey and interview. The coastal squares were analyzed and evaluated scientifically and completely from three aspects namely the location analysis, entity elements and the usage condition.In the last, the advantage and disadvantage of planning and design of Qingdao coastal squares are summarized and put forward the improvement suggestions and consequently propose the countermeasure about planning and design of Qingdao coastal squares as inference for government decision-making departments and relevant professional and technical personnel.
