Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) is a kind of new transmission which has wide prospect of applications. It has high transmission efficiency, simple structure, low produce cost advantages. In the shift process, the power of the engine can uninterrupted transfer to the wheels, thus not only guarantee the performance and fuel economy of vehicles, and greatly improved vehicle acceleration and operation of comfort. However, with two clutches of DCT working is a complicated process, how to switch their timing and alternate time is still a problem. The construction, classification, characteristics and function of the DCT system were introduced, and the quality of DCT vehicle shift was analyzed in this paper. Thus, the shift time, acceleration, jerk and wear slip sliding were used as evaluation factors. Among them, the jerk, wear slip sliding are related with the hydraulic clutch.The hydraulic control system and the implementing agencies, which control the wet dual clutch hydraulic clutch, were detailed analyzed. Thus, their mathematical model was established; and the dynamic process model of the clutch shift was established, the five phase shift process DCT mathematical model was analyzed, and a dynamic model of the clutch engagement process was established.According to the state space expression of the DCT shifting process, and the nonlinear of the implementing agencies of hydraulic, this paper uses Sliding Mode Variable Theory to design the Sliding Mode Variable Controllers of the clutch control system, which to achieve the optimal trajectory for tracking the clutch oil pressure, and to improve the control precision and robustness.This paper designs Transmission Control Unit (TCU) of the DCT. According to the design of TCU hardware and software, author establishes the test platform of the solenoid when the clutches unload. Thus, this platform completed the characteristics test of the high-speed switch solenoid and proportional pressure solenoid, and the results were analyzed. Tests showed that the TCU can quickly capture the high-precision inputs of analog, digital and frequency. It also can achieve SCI and CAN communications and verify the control effects the Sliding Mode Variable Controller.
