Centrifugal compressors play an important role in many fields for their special advantages such as high reliability, low volume and weight. At the same time, extensive application also means that they will consume a large amount of energy sources. In many industry fields, as the increasingly strict requirements of high load, high efficiency and some other special demands, more researches on centrifugal compressors are imperative.Two model stages with small flow coefficient in Shenyang Blower Works Group Co.,Ltd are investigated. Compared with the average level in the world, these two model stages have lower performance by almost ten percent. It is thus necessary to improve the model design to satisfy the requirements of the market and user.The commercial CFD software NUMECA is employed to simulate the model stages. Based on the analysis of the detailed flow characteristics, the key factors in the stage performance are found for the further optimization design. Multiple approaches are adopted to redesign the two model stages with the multiple parameters taken into account. Finally, the optimal approach is tested by the experiment investigation. The results show that the performance of the optimized model stages are significantly improved, which benefits the commercial efficiency.The present research may provide reference for the flow analysis and redesign of the other model stages with small flow coefficient. |
