Effective development and conservation of resources is a prerequisite to achieve sustainable development of the national economy and the only way.But in our country, thermal power mainly depends on coal fueled plant whose thermal efficiency is only 35.9% on average. Based on the summing up and analysis the existing research results, theoretical research and method model were carried out with exergy analysis method for 1000MW steam turbine generating unit in some power plant. And economic indicators of the whole thermodynamic system were calculated with exergy balance equations which provided the distribution of performance for thermodynamic system and heaters. The system weak links were discovered by analyzing the distributing rules of exergy lose. Then the exergy flow diagram was drawed which directly indicated the utilization level of energy and potentials for energy saving.Meanwhile, the thermoeconomics model of thermodynamic system was carried out with matrix modle thermoeconomic cost analysis method. Then unit exergetic cost and unit thermoeconomic cost were both calculated for each exergy flow that revealed which part or aspect had a larger optimization potential.By two different methods of economic analysis with thermal calculation and comparison, the energy saving potential of the device would be more accurately determine the focus of energy conservation. The exergy analysis method is only in the production process to quantify the irreversible losses, reached leading cause of reduced system performance, reflecting the exergy degree of utilization of each link, but can not directly give the thermodynamic perfection of each device's impact on the whole system. While thermoeconomic cost analysis method is to improve the drawback, and can more accurately determine the energy saving potential of the devices. The combination of both would be better for system analysis and optimization for thermal economy, which provided an important basis for system reform and energy efficiency evaluation.
