Many recent studies have concentrated on the development of high-performance compact heat exchangers to reduce energy consumption as well as material cost. Fin heat exchangers, as one of the high-performance compact heat exchangers, are generally characterized by extended surfaces with a large surface area, which finds diverse applications, such as energy and power, petroleum, chemical engineering, aviation, metallurgy, refrigeiation and air conditioning and so on. A variety of augmented surfaces are used:plain fins, wavy fins, slitted fins and louvered fins. The wind tunnel experimental test system is designed and established to study the performance of heat transfer enhancement and pressure drop characteristics of fin heat exchangers. The thesis had a introduce on the basic structure of the test system, the selection of the test equipment and instrumentthe, the test program and procedures. Experimental study and analysis on the wavy fin and louvered heat transfer and pressure drop performance of fin heat exchanger have been carried out in the experimental test system. The experimental results indicate that the fin spacing have a impact on the heat transfer performance of the wavy fins. With the decrease of the fin spacing, the heat transfer and similar pressure drop performance have a increace trend. Compare to wavy fins, The fin spacing have a more significantly impact on the heat transfer performance of the louvered fins. With the decrease of the fin spacing, the heat transfer performance have a declining trend. Furthermore, comparison of fin performance between louvered fins and wavy fins, The louvered fins have a better heat transfer performance than wavy fins. But, perssure drop performance of the former have been larger than that of the latter. The performance curves of Re-j, Re-f are valuable for designing our fin heat exchangers.
