Valve hall as the heart of converter station, its structure has very high safety and reliability requirements. The structural design of converter station valve hall in our country, still no corresponding design standard, in order to make our design regulation have reliable theoretical and practical basis, we need to study the converter station valve hall structure. At present, the majority of domestic converter station valve hall structure used of the steel-concrete mixed structure, because hybrid structure valve hall one side for steel column, contralateral side for concrete firewall, the stiffness of valve hall existing certain differences on either side. Under the effects of earthquake, the different size and deformation shape displacement is formed on both sides of valve hall structure, making the node area become a weak link in the whole system. Therefore, we carried out the study of valve hall node region, proposed the bearing capacity calculation method and construction measures, for ensuring the safety of valve hall has an important significance.A lot of literatures about the converter station valve hall structure design are read to analyze the research status and shortcomings of converter station valve hall building home and abroad. Based on previous research, we proposed the bearing capacity calculation method and construction measures. The main research contents and results are as follows:Firstly, the valve hall steel roof truss and concrete frame firewall connection experimental research. Using model test for valve hall node structure to carry out low cyclic loading experiment in the laboratory condition, obtained node structure's yield and ultimate loads, proposed the method of calculating the node bearing capacity and construction measures.Secondly, valve hall steel roof truss and concrete frame firewall connection numerical analysis. Using large general finite element software ANSYS to establish node model, calculated 1:1 and 1:2 of node-models ultimate load-bearing capacity respectively, compared with the test results to draw some useful suggestions for the design.Thirdly, the similarity theory's applicability in the model test. By using the finite element software ANSYS, the ultimate load of actual size model less than the load which is calculated using the similarity theory, error about 15%. Therefore, in nonlinear problems, the calculated results by using similarity theory should be appropriate adjustable smaller, according to the numerical analysis, the appropriate coefficient use of 0.85.
