Automotive is the world's fastest growing transport, most of resources are cost in this field. Automotive design is an integrated technology which closely integrated technology and art, fully reflect the people's needs, technology and the social environment. The aim is to manifest the ideal state in concrete form, which provides a variety of positive impact on consumer's everyday life in the interaction.It needs various forms of assistive technology when manifesting the ideal state in concrete form, whether hand-sketch, solid model, or highly developed new digital technology in recent years, are powerful assistive technology. Unlike hand-sketch and solid model, the digital technology is an inevitable outcome of computer technology development, a few years ago the body digital model is only a fairing tool following the frozen clay model, but with the rapid construction modeling techniques and a new height real-time rendering technology in recent years, the growth of body digital technology provides more and more possibilities during the progress of the design.This study focuses on digital technology in the body design field. On the one hand the importance and difficulty of the technology itself is considered, and the establishment of new means of digital design is proposed; On the other hand, a new collaborative approach is proposed from a technical involvement in the design process, which has some reference value on design work.On the technical side, the concept of the adjustment capacity of designing model is first proposed in this study, pointing out that the value of the design model is not only the result of the show, but also a variety of possibilities in the scrutiny of the process of the design.On the technical involvement side, from the study of the limitations of the traditional digital modeling process, the concept of concurrent engineering is introduced, which puts forward the feedback method of the designing model.Finally, the two proposed new method above is applied to the design development of a cross vehicle, the initial concept, to sketch, then refinement of the design digital modeling process and results is reproduced, which achieved good results.
