The effect of temperature on the properties of saturated clay is a popular research topic in the field of geotechnical engineering in recent years. It is used in oil exploration, road safety assessment of the structure, fire safety evaluation of concrete structures to withstand daily temperature cycle or seasonal temperature changes in areas such as airport runways. However, domestic researches are still rare in this area, and there are no targeted and systematic researches abroad. In this context, we can analysis thermodynamics on saturated silty clay under variable thermal loading. The thermal consolidation test device includes temperature control system developing, the surrounding pressure systems, back-pressure control system and residual pore water pressure measurement system. Experimenting with this device at the temperature range 25℃to 75℃for 6 cycle within the test sample confining pressure of which was 50kPa, 100kPa and 150kPa.According to the results of this laboratory tests, we can analysis the effect of the cycle and the confining pressure for the evolution of the temperature, pore pressure, the change of consolidation, and so on. And it is compared the above factors so that we can obtain the rule of pore pressure, the change of consolidation and so on.And it operates on the clay containing different water content and different temperature ranges. Through the result of tests, to get the conclusion that the influence of the water content and different temperature ranges on the residual pore water pressure, the change of consolidation and so on. Mainly there are three parts for the following:the water content and different temperature ranges effect on saturated silty clay in the process of the isothermal consolidation and under variable thermal loading; the influence of the cycle on different water content and different temperature ranges for saturated silty clay.
