Because of good line conditions and large curve radius, EMU are mainly used on high-speed railway for passenger transport. But problem of curve negotiation is still the important field for EMU systematic dynamics.When EMU is running, the connection between train and rail is built through the wheel-rail connection. To certain extent, wheel-rail connection decides the train operation characteristics. So it is necessary to study the effect that wheel defect has on the property of high-speed train curve negotiation. Additionally, different combinations of wheel-rail profiles has significant impact on the property of train curve negotiation. So appropriate wheel tread profile will commit the safety and stability of train curve negotiation.In this paper, EMU is the study object. EMU dynamic model was built by using SIMPACK software. Differences among LMA, LM and XP55 three wheel treads were analyzed to see what effect they have on the property of EMU curve negotiation. The effect of roll radii difference on train curve negotiation was also studied, and four conditions of roll radii differences were theoretically analyzed. Finally, based on the data, the impact of roll radii differences on EMU was discussed.This paper will provide meaningful guidelines for the study of train dynamic curve negotiation, the choice of wheel tread and the decision of wheel maintenance system.
