Articulated tracked vehicle driving performance is very good, it is able to travel on most non-road terrain. It has two hydraulic cylinders through the hinge between the body compositions. When the bump-road terrain vehicle is driving, the two bodies can be adjusted accordingly to the terrain changes, so that the limited track length can be possible to maintain contact with the ground, and then there is a higher capacity.In this paper, heat transfer process for its elaborate cooling system is discussed on the established mathematical model of calculating cooling system. And the CFD techniques is used to simulate the vehicle cooling system and analyze the cooling performance. Then the cooling system is appraised and optimized .According to the project design requirements, firstly,it is calculated that the overall heat load of the vehicle and the main components of the heat load , then design the cooling system,it is made of each subsystem radiator, cooling fan hydraulic system and cooling system installation layout . And the "hot melt - thermal resistance" concept is referenced to , through the thermal network method for engine cooling system modeling, and then this thermal network circuit heat transfer model is established.By using the FLOWMASTER to model vehicle cooling system, it is analyzed that vehicle reaching thermal equilibrium work state of the cooling system, including temperature, pressure, velocity. The cooling system working status changing with time trend during the vehicle engine start-up process is discussed in this paper, including of thermostatic valve opening, radiator cooling fluid inlet temperature , radiator thermal load , water pump power and efficiency , radiator and engine entrance cooling fluid velocity and expansion tank pressure which are changing with time.And analysis the factors that affect the cooling system and its specific impact on the cooling system,the influence of environmental temperature, heat equipment efficiency ,cooling pump and cooling air inlet quantity on the cooling system.Through the AVS module of FLOWMASTER , analysis and model Water cooling equipment and hydraulic oil cooling equipment (cooling model first). Analysis temperature and flowing changing on water cooling equipment.This simulation and analysis results show that the articulated tracked vehicle cooling system model is accurate and can be up to the mustard of the vehicle design specifications. Meanwhile, it proofs that the CFD technology in vehicle cooling system feasibility of the design process. By reducing the cost of experiments, it is more conducive to the articulated tracked vehicle power transmission thermal equilibrium theory. The research method in the paper has reference value to other mechanical power transmission system design and study.
