Highways,as an important constitutional part of our nation's highway traffic,play an increasingly important role in national economy.However,traffic accidents are also threatening people's property and life. Safety evaluation and optimal design of highway road infrastructure is one of the important means to prevent effectively and reduce the traffic accident. It is in terms of highway users to find the potential factor of the traffic accident in analysing and appraising the project of the highway. Doing it accident can be prevented before it happens, personnel and property loss can be reduced tu the greatest extent.This text relies on analyzing traffic safety factors of highway road infrastructure,make a detailed analysis of highway road infrastructure such as road alignment, sight distance, road embankment and so on impacting on traffic safety, as the theoretical basis for evaluation of road safety evaluation. On the basis of determining the influencing factors of road safety,determine the weight of ezch factor by analytic hierarchy process and specialist-scored method, and build mathematical model of multiple indexes.And then establish highway road infrastructure safety evaluation index system.Safety level evaluation method of single factor for highway normal sectionand special section is studied in this text. And then comprehensively evaluate of mul-level for sevurity level of highway road by the weighed sum of all factors. At the same time, though studying road design and traffic engineering support technology and other aspects,the text propose the optimize design method of highway road infrastructure common safety hazards. The safety evaluation index system and optimal design of highway road infrastructure proposed by this text ,has been successfully applied in the actual design of highway expansion project,demonstrated the necessity of safety evaluation and the retionality of the key indicators presented in this text.
