In recent years, the CFST arch bridges have been rapidly developed in China. But for the reason that the study on the theories of CFST arch bridges gets relatively behind the engineering practices, there are many damages occurred to the CFST arch bridges which were built these years. According to the theoretical analysis and loading tests of Heilongjian Yilan-Mudanjiang Bridge in Harbin-Tongjiang Expressway, the study on the relevant documentations, and the filed inspection of the existing CFST arch bridges, the present paper find out the reason which caused the damages of the CFST arch bridges, and appraise the technical condition and bearing capacity of the bridges. According to damage inspection and load tests analysis, the strengthening and maintenance methods are designed and the result of the strengthening is examined by the loading test.1. According to the design specifications, the static load test analysis of the Yilan-Mudanjiang Bridge is done either in construction stage or in-service stage. And the dynamic performance of the bridge is also analyzed. Then we preliminary identify the cause of damages.2. The appearance inspection, static load test, and dynamic load test were carried out on the bridge. Through the analysis of the test data, the main reasons of the damages are confirmed.3. According to the data of dynamic analysis and the result of the dynamic loading test, and focused on the structural imperfection of the bridge, five structural upgrading proposals were studied out. Compare the dynamic performance of the proposal with each other and the best proposal was confirmed.4. For the purpose of testing the dynamic performance of the reinforced bridge, and confirm the correctness of the theoretical analysis, the dynamic response of the bridge deck and the arch rib were tested under normal traffic action after the strengthening process. According to the result of tests analysis, the effect of the strengthening on the working state and stiffness of the bridge structure was evaluated.
