Asphalt mixtures for highway engineering exhibit visco-elastic-plastic property. Rheological property of asphalt mixtures is sensitive to the changing temperature. Natural environments have a great influence on asphalt pavement which is constituted by asphalt mixtures. It is inevitable that changing climate such as high temperature make damage to asphalt pavement and lower the performance of pavement, just as rutting and cracking.The disease have a strong impact on the service life, roadability, security of pavement. Thermal field of asphalt pavement is one of the basic study leading to the research of rutting and cracking. Therefore, it is important to gather actual temperature of each layer for asphalt pavement. Strengthening design for the weakness layer of asphalt pavement can be used to decrease emergence probability of pavement disease.This paper take expressway Guangyuan to Bazhong of Sichuan province as experimental section, and introduce technical proposal that install instrument in construction period and measure temperature in operation period. Considering orographic character of actual project, take slight hill area, heavy hill area and area bewteen slight hill and heavy hill as typical test section. In order to test actual temperature of each layer of pavement for all weather, install three instruments in construction period in the typical test section, and automatic test temperature in operation period. By data preprocessing and reliability analysis, uniform temperature database have been established. With climatology analysis to atmospheric temperature, temperature have been divided into hypo-thermal, moderate and hyper-thermal. Taking each temperature period in representative month (January, April, July, October) as data base, analyse thermal field of asphalt pavement by the test temperature in representative day, thus lay an important foundation to research visco-elastic-plastic operating temperature of asphalt pavement ane geometric range of rutting occourred.
