Reticulate red clay is familiar around Dong-ting Lake, reseachers pay much attention to mainly in the origin, distribution, structure and elastic deformation of the reticulate red clay. Because of the clay has high strength, and there is no much research about its creep deformation, while, its stress deformation is notable time-depending. If we didn't consider the reticulate red clay's creep property in the practical engineering, there will be effect to the correct analysis, evaluation of various types of ground deformation and stability of the project. So it has a important practical sense to study the creep deformation, the evaluation of the engineering properties of the reticulate red clay and to solve the related geotechnical problems. Based on the achievement of the previous studies, this thesis make a series of laboratory experiments and theoretical analysis of Dong-ting Lake area's reticulate red clay. The main achievements were obtained as follows:(1)Confirmed that the reticulate red clay has obvious creep consolidation. Comprehensively and systematicaly researched for the reticulate red clay's creep consolidation.(2)Revealed the rule of the reticulate red clay's one-dimensional creep deformation in Dong-ting Lake region, including the relationship of strain and time, void ratio and time, stress(total stress and effective stress) on the creep deformation, and preconsolidation pressure, primary and secondary consolidation time.(3)Compared with the consolidation creep law of original samples and remolded samples with same water content, analyzing different reasons of different samples with different results in the macro and micro aspects.(4)Compared one-dimensional creep test results of reticulate red clay in the method of gradation loading and parting loading. Analyzed the influence of two methods on one-dimensional creep test results.(5)Triaxial creep tests wrer perfomed on reticulate red clay samples under different confining pressures, revealing the triaxial creep law, including the relationship of strain(axial strain and volumetric strain)and time, pore water pressure and time, and etc.
