As the microelectronics and electromechanical components further develop to high density and miniaturization, thermal control of components is becoming increasingly important. Connector is the indispensable components to electronics and electrical system, when the current pass through contact part, due to the presence of contact resistance, Joule heat will be generated. Statistics show that 80%the failure of mechanism in the whole electrical system caused by excessive electrical contact resistance, contact welding and bonding and the electrical contact material erosion. Most of failure of electrical contact caused by the electric arc, electric spark and the thermal bridge, The thermal analysis of electrical connector not only can effectively analyze the phenomenon of electrical contact failure, but also help to ensure reliable operation of the contact system and thepremise of thermal analysis of transient arc.This thesis first built a contact temperature measurement system of connector, In the measuring system, connectors are simplified as Cu probe/Cu coupon.Digital temperature sensor DS18B20 is used for measuring temperature. There are two temperature sensors in this system, one is for the specimen, the other is for the environment. LCD1602B is used to display the temperature. The tested temperature data is transmitted to the computer for display, draw and save after. In the experiments of temperature testing, temperature rise test of Cu probe/Cu coupon under different current is carried, the result show that the temperature rise of contact part increased with the increase of current.Using the coupled analysis of ANSYS simulation software, the heat_structure simulation analysis of female and male connector was executed, as the result, the temperature rise in the contact part was got. While, we calculated the theoretical temperature rise of connector by using the connector contact thermal effect theory.Compared the theory temperature rise of the connector contact surface and simulation results and test data, the result show that the three of them are in good common. Therefore, the data measured from simplified model of the connector temperature testing system is credible, and could really reflect the temperature rise of contact surface of connector due to Joule heating.
