China's energy supply are facing the dual pressures of demand growth and energy saving and emission reduction. How to coordinate the relationship between energy and environment to achieve sustainable economic development is urgently needed to resolve. For the modular units, the increase of primary energy use efficiency, reduce pollutant emissions in addition to its structural parameters with the unit are closely related, but also more dependent on the operating level of unit, Which involves multiple levels of optimization problems, such as scheduling optimization, optimal operation, control system optimization. Optimization problems on unit separated from its dynamic and static characteristics of the recognition that the establishment of the system in some way by the mathematical model. A novel modeling scheme based on system dynamics theory for power generation units is presented in this scheme. This scheme, in which causal loop diagrams and stock-flow diagrams are adapted as the essential tools, is more macroscopic than other methods because of its emphasizing of mass and energy balance. After detail analysis on applicability of the scheme in power unit modeling, a particular process of its implementation is demonstrated for steam turbine thermal power system in Panshan power plant. The accuracy of system dynamics model of condenser system is validated by comparing simulation data with real running data. The results show that the system dynamics model can be used efficiently in modeling and optimization of power generation process for its clear causality, suitable complexity and exact describe characteristics.
