With the continuously development of automobile industry and increasing possessing capacity of vehicles with each passing year,how to realize the energy-saving and emission-reduction remains a serious problem to Govements,the automobile companyies and the comsumers.A direct way to solve this problem is to improve the performance of automobile angine,however,the engine industry has been developed maturely to make huge breakthroughts and we should find methods from the perspective of energy recycling to improve vehicle fuel economy.This paper aims at the high heat of engine exhaust gas and converse the heat energy of the exhaust gas into electric energy through thermoelectric generator for on-car electric equipment using or the power resource of 42V mild-hybrid system to realize the recycling of exhaust gas energy and improving vehicle fuel economy.This paper introduces the constitution and structure of a thermoelectric generation testbench,discusses influencing factors of thermoelectric generation system and the improving suggestions.Several inner structures of exhaust gas heat exchanger has been designed to research exhaust gas heat availability of different inner structures,experiments testing and computer simulation are followed as well:use temperature sensor to measure the temperature of fixed points and GUIDE TP8S thermal infrared imager to take the picture of surface temperature of heat exchanger;use CFD software Fluent to simulate the different inner structure of exhaust gas heat exchanger,then pick out the optimum inner structure.In the process of thermoelectric generation experiments,there are two problems to be considered:one is that the shape of exhaust gas heat exchanger is too large,which will be a clash with the installation position of the muffler in the future on-car experiment;another is the noise of exhaust gas heat exchanger because of the manufacturing technology and the inner structrue.To solve these problems,this paper advances a new research idea which is to make a integration design of exhaust gas heat exchanger and the muffler,then bring forward a design method according to the result of experiments testing and computer simulation.In this way, the contradiction of heat exchange and the muffler can be solved,the noise of the exchange can be lowed down and the raw material can be cut down as well to realize the environment-protecting intention.
