Study On The Evaluation OfUnsignalized Intersection's Safety Degree And The Research Of Improvement Measures

With the rapid development of our country's economy, the transportation also obtains the same result. The developed communication is very convenient, but it also makes many hidden troubles. According to the related statistical data, traffic accident has already become one public enemy of our human, and it has threatened our lives and property. Owing to many reasons, the problem of our country's traffic is very rigorous. The intersection is the key loop of the transportation junction, and it's traffic accident ratio is very high. The signalized intersection's safety situation is good because of the traffic devices and the traffic controls and management. On the contrary, the unsignalized intersection's traffic safety is terribly alarming without the traffic management and control to vehicles. Therefore the research on the traffic safety of the unsignalized intersection is very significant, and by that we can decrease the number of traffic accidents and improve the safety of our traffic.In order to improve the traffic safety of the unsignalized intersection, we must firstly evaluate the degree of its traffic safety. This paper summarized the safety impact factors, then on the basis of the traffic conflict theory, set up the safety assessment model and divided it into 7 ranks according to different score value. In the same time, the paper proposed some relevant improvement measures in accordance with the different rank. In order to improve the safety of the unsignalized intersection, the paper made use of the traffic signs (mainly including the stop sign, the yield sign and the speed limit sign) to make drivers watch carefully on coming traffic, and then resulted in that the traffic order can be improved and the traffic conflicts also can be decreased. By simulating the traffic scene of the unsignalized intersection the paper did some researches on the influences of traffic signs (mainly including the stop sign, the yield sign and the speed limit sign) on the driver's behavior, and then proposed some improvement measures. Finally, the paper made use of some instances to inspect and verify the validity and practicability of the safety assessment model and the improvement measures. The traffic sign is the effective method to decrease the traffic accident and it also has the features of economical efficiency, simplicity and practicability. Compared to foreign situation, the traffic signs, especially the stop sign, are not applied widely in our country. Therefore, it's necessary to do some researches on the regulation and relation between the application of traffic signs and the decrease of traffic accidents.
