China has made a great progress in transportation facilities field during recent years, but people still worried about the fact that the transportation accidents occurred continuously. Much analysis about the reason of transportation accidents and investigation about the parties in those transportation accidents show that the improperly perception of driver is the main reason to make those accidents happen. On one side, driver will perceive part of the visible road alignment and has to choose a suitable operating speed and steering wheel angle based on the judgment of his/her perception of visible road alignment, because road alignment is complicated, different drivers will get different perception; on the other side, influenced by the surrounding environment, driver always could not observe the invisible road alignment after the obstacle, because the vehicle need to move forward, driver also needs to predict road condition of the invisible road sector, then he/she could change vehicle speed and steering wheel angle to adapt to the invisible road alignment in the next stage.Based on those cases mentioned above, this paper studied the perception of driver about road alignment information, more details are as follows:1. Upgraded the road alignment and speed measurement system, a large scale experiment including vehicle speed detection, road alignment measurement and questionnaire investigation of driver in Antu-Erdaobaihe secondary highway at mountain area in Jilin Province has been launched. A road alignment and vehicle operating speed database and a road prediction database have been established.2. Studied two perception models of driver when perceiving the curvature of continuous connected curve road as "single perception" and "whole perception". Using the vehicle operation speed cloud model as a tool, analyzed the actual perception model of driver about the curvature of continuous connected curve road in realistic. Conclusion is that driver will comprehend the curvature of continuous connected curve road as entirety, verified the conclusion by using measured data.3. Studied the understanding of the concept scale about curvature of road, sight distance and vehicle operating speed of driver. Extracted curvature of road, sight distance and vehicle operating speed concept in "large" and "small" standards by using the method of concept extraction in cloud theory, analyzed the actual way of understanding of driver about those concepts in realistic. Conclusion is that base on different road alignment the understanding about those concepts of driver will be different.Verified the conclusion by using measured data.4. Studied the prediction of driver about invisible road alignment. Analyzed the influence of prediction location parameters including radius, sight distance and gradient on radius prediction error and gradient prediction error, acquired many conclusions which could be useful in engineering applications. Analyzed the reason why the prediction error of driver seemed so remarkable on some road sectors by using the conclusions mentioned above, the visual illusion theory, the road pictures and measured data.5. Fitted the prediction data in a least square fitting way by using MATLAB, the fitting expressions of radius and gradient prediction error and prediction location parameters including radius, sight distance and gradient have been acquired. In summary, this paper studied the perception models of driver about the curvature of continuous connected curve road and the concept scale of driver about curvature of road, sight distance and vehicle operating speed by using a new tool of the vehicle operation speed cloud model, supplied very practical reference for the analysis of the influence of road on driver and the reaction of driver from the influence. This paper studied the prediction of driver innovatively and got many conclusions which could be useful in engineering applications, supplied important theory reference in understanding the inner reason of the occurrence of road accident.
